How do you know whether you are his best friend? - Korea

When you split up with a Korean friend who stayed together with you but received anything, think twice how you have treated him so far.

If a Korean stays longer or known with you for a long time, they will leave/give a small gift or anything to contact with you. You can see this situation only when you had a good friendship. In other words, this can be a clue to estimate whether you had a well relationship with your friend or vice versa. 

Some Koreans (mostly man) like to share their mobile number or SNS account, email address, or even their physical home address. If you got his home address, I would say 'congratulation, you must be one of his close friend'. If you got SNS (online address) the meaning is pretty similar. You may assume you are his social friend, at least he opened his mind to you. 

Now, what if you did not receive any contact details or even a small gift before you split up with him? It may give you two clues: 1. you are his best friend, no need to worry about contact detail; because you and he will know where you lives already. 2. you are not his best friend at all. Perhaps he already hate you, much. Or simply he does not want to contact with you anymore.

Well, this is not an essay thing. I just roughly typed about the culture of Korea.

This is not 100% guaranteed. I recommend you to talk/chat with your Korean friend if you want to make sure how the friendship is going on. They will at least respond you if they want to talk.

Additionally, if you receive a small present but never share their contact details, 'he just simply want to say thank you.' You can still ask his contact info., this can be a good opportunity to establish a good friendship.
